The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has appealed to journalists to exercise caution in reporting the alleged sexual abuse case involving students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School. She warns that revealing the identities of the victims could undermine efforts to support them and ensure justice. Dr Naa Momo Lartey said some of the girls have withdrawn from the process after hearing their full names mentioned on a media platform. She is therefore urging the media to protect the identities of the victims as investigations and support efforts continue. The ministry says some of the students and their families have become reluctant to participate after media outlets allegedly mentioned the girls’ full names, while others have been identified by friends and relatives despite efforts to conceal their faces.
