The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disassociated itself from comments made by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante-Boateng, describing his recent statements as personal and not representative of the party’s official position.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NPP described the MP’s remarks as “regrettable,” noting that they could create unnecessary tension within the party at a time when unity and cooperation are most needed.
“The New Patriotic Party wishes to make it clear that the opinions expressed by Hon. Asante-Boateng are solely his own and do not reflect the collective views of the party,” the statement emphasized.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal harmony, calling on all executives, members, and supporters to focus on consolidating peace and discipline as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
“We urge all members to remain united behind the leadership and work collectively towards the NPP’s vision for national development,” the statement added.
The leadership further assured that any internal concerns or disagreements would be addressed through the party’s established dispute resolution mechanisms.
Sources indicate that discussions are underway to engage the Asante Akim South legislator to clarify his comments and maintain cohesion within the party.
