SOAL Student Delegation Visits Ghana High Commission in UK to Deepen Understanding of Diplomacy

A delegation from the School of African Languages (SOAL), participating in the SOALCAP 2026 Programme, has paid a courtesy call on the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom as part of efforts to strengthen students’ understanding of diplomacy, international relations and Ghana’s engagement with the global community.

The delegation, comprising students from leading universities across the United Kingdom, was welcomed by Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Her Excellency Mrs. Zita Sabah Benson.

During the engagement, the High Commissioner shared valuable insights into Ghana’s foreign policy priorities, diplomatic relations and national development agenda. She highlighted the country’s strategic opportunities in sectors including trade, investment, education, innovation and culture, while encouraging the students to position themselves as globally minded professionals capable of contributing to Africa’s development.

Her Excellency also urged the students to maintain strong academic and cultural connections with Ghana, emphasising the importance of cross-cultural collaboration, knowledge exchange and international partnerships in addressing global challenges.

The interactive session provided participants with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of diplomatic practice and the role of Ghana’s foreign missions in advancing national interests, supporting citizens abroad and promoting bilateral cooperation.

The School of African Languages expressed its appreciation to the Ghana High Commission for the warm reception and insightful discussions, noting that the engagement reinforces its commitment to nurturing globally engaged leaders who appreciate Africa’s languages, cultures and place in international affairs.

The institution also expressed optimism about strengthening future collaboration with the Ghana High Commission to provide more opportunities for students to engage with diplomacy, public service and international development.
