As part of reaching out to voters, Madam Ekpe paid a working visit to the Multimedia Group at Kokomlemle in Accra, where she interacted with a cross-section of journalists in the newsroom. During her engagement, she shared her vision for a more vibrant, inclusive, and responsive GJA that continuous to prioritize welfare and professional development of its members.
In her address, Ms. Ekpe appealed to her colleagues to rally behind her bid and vote for her as the next Vice President. She emphasized her commitment to transparency, capacity building, and advocacy for better working conditions for journalists across the country.
“I believe the time is right for a leadership that listens, learns, and leads with integrity,” she stated. “I am here not just to campaign, but to listen because your concerns are valid and must be addressed with urgency and seriousness.”
True to her word, Ms. Ekpe gave a listening ear to the journalists she met, who raised a range of concerns, including job security, training opportunities, safety of journalists in the line of duty, and the need for stronger representation of media workers at national decision-making forums. In response, she assured them that these issues would be among her top priorities if elected.
Her visit was met with optimism and encouragement, with many journalists expressing appreciation for her approachable style and forward-looking ideas. Rebecca Ekpe’s campaign is expected to continue with visits to other media houses and regional branches of the GJA as she builds momentum ahead of the elections on Monday, June 30, 2025.
