A burial service has been held for the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, GFP, Akua Donkor, at Ejuratia in the Ashanti Region.
She passed away on October 28, last year, at Ridge Hospital in Accra. A passionate advocate for farmers and women Akua Donkor stood out in Ghanaian politics for her commitment to grassroots communities, often using a bold and comical approach to capture public attention.
Her first attempt at the Presidency was in 2012, but she was disqualified for failing to meet the eligibility requirements. Undeterred, she continued her political aspirations, later supporting Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party, PPP, in that election year.
In 2016, a fire destroyed her party’s headquarters in Kabu, Akropong Constituency, Eastern Region, ultimately disqualifying her from the election. Despite these setbacks Akua Donkor remained a resilient and outspoken figure, advocating grassroots needs and championing agricultural issues.
