SAenior Presidential Advisor and Senior Presidential Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has joined women leaders, accountants, auditors, policymakers and public-sector professionals at a programme held on the sidelines of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) Third-Quarter Meeting in Accra.
The programme, organised by the Association of Women Accountants Ghana, was held under the theme “Celebrating the Journey: Choices, Milestones and Successes.” It provided a platform for participants to reflect on women’s experiences and achievements in public accounting, auditing, policymaking, leadership and governance.
Ms. Bawah Mogtari shared reflections from her own leadership journey, highlighting the importance of recognising the choices, milestones and achievements that shape women’s professional and public-service careers.
She described the gathering as a reminder of the significant contribution women make to fiscal responsibility, transparency and sound governance in the public sector.
She also underscored the importance of ensuring that Africa has a strong voice in global standard-setting discussions, expressing appreciation to the African Union Commission, Ghana’s Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and IPSASB for supporting the engagement.
Addressing women pursuing careers in public service and leadership, Ms. Bawah Mogtari said their individual journeys matter, regardless of the challenges and choices encountered along the way.
“To every woman navigating her own path in public service, I dare say to you that your journey with all its choices, milestones, and successes matters.”
The Accra gathering brought together professionals from Ghana and other parts of Africa and beyond, reinforcing discussions around women’s leadership, public financial management, accountability and Africa’s participation in international standard-setting.
