Shipping company deploys additional staff, extends operational coverage and introduces measures to clear backlog and address customer demurrage charges.
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Ghana says it is intensifying efforts to address operational challenges recently experienced at its Tema office, as part of measures to restore service levels and improve the customer experience.
In an update to customers, the company said it had deployed additional resources to strengthen its operational capacity, including increased staffing, adjusted work shifts and extended operational coverage.
The measures, according to MSC Ghana, are intended to improve turnaround times and support the gradual stabilisation of daily operations.
The company also disclosed that it was implementing a structured plan to clear the outstanding backlog through increased processing capacity and continuous operational coverage.
A key component of the intervention is a review of cases in which customers may have incurred additional demurrage charges as a direct result of delays attributable to the company.
MSC Ghana said affected customers would, where applicable, receive waivers corresponding to the number of days lost due to company-related delays.
Customers have consequently been encouraged to contact their local MSC representatives to have their individual cases assessed.
The shipping company further indicated that it was accelerating the introduction of enhanced and more automated processes for invoice issuance and payment processing.
The proposed improvements are expected to streamline administrative procedures, strengthen service reliability and minimise the possibility of similar operational disruptions in the future.
Acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the recent challenges, MSC Ghana said it recognised the impact on its customers and remained focused on restoring service standards.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s economy and facilitating the country’s connection to international markets through reliable shipping services and dedicated local customer support.
MSC Ghana has urged customers requiring assistance with specific shipments or seeking clarification on outstanding issues to contact their local representatives.
The latest update comes as the company seeks to address customer concerns, improve operational efficiency and rebuild confidence in its services at the Tema office, a key point in Ghana’s maritime and trade activities.
I can also give this story a stronger business and maritime news angle, highlighting the implications for importers, exporters, clearing agents and Ghana’s trade facilitation.
