He noted that streaming platforms like Netflix have expanded audiences for content from different cultures, creating new opportunities for filmmakers and storytellers across the world.
Mr. Olson said the U.S. Embassy recently supported Ghana’s creative sector through the African Creative TV Programme, which brought American filmmakers and media executives to Accra to lead directing labs, masterclasses and industry engagements.
He urged creatives to tell their stories authentically, investors to provide early-stage funding for creative ventures, and government officials to strengthen policies, intellectual property protection and production financing to attract investment.
Mr. Olson reaffirmed the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s creative industry, expressing confidence that stronger partnerships would create jobs, boost economic growth and deepen relations between Ghana and the United States.
