Mr Thomas Nyarko Ampem has disclosed that Rans Logistics, a company cited in the Auditor-General’s special report for multiple financial infractions, has refunded GH¢19.1 million to the state.

According to the Deputy Minister, the refund follows findings of overpayments made to the company for the transportation of grains under a government programme. The irregularities were captured in a recent special audit conducted by the Auditor-General’s Department Ghana.
Speaking on the matter, Mr. Ampem indicated that the amount was returned shortly after the audit findings were presented, describing the development as a positive step toward safeguarding public funds and enforcing accountability.
The Auditor-General’s report had flagged Rans Logistics for receiving excess payments beyond approved contract sums. It also raised concerns about discrepancies involving thousands of metric tonnes of rice that were reportedly unaccounted for.
Despite the refund, authorities say investigations are ongoing. The case has been referred to the Attorney-General’s Department Ghana for further review and possible legal action regarding other infractions identified in the report.
Government officials have reiterated their commitment to retrieving all misappropriated funds and ensuring that individuals or entities found culpable are held accountable.
The recovery of the GH¢19.1 million is being viewed as a significant outcome of the Auditor-General’s work, reinforcing calls for stricter financial oversight and transparency in public sector transactions
