President Mahama said the story of Prophet Ibrahim, which forms the foundation of Eid ul-Adha, remains one of the greatest examples of faith, sacrifice, patience and trust in God. He noted that after Prophet Ibrahim demonstrated complete submission to the will of Allah, God in His mercy replaced the sacrifice with a ram.
According to him, the lessons of Eid ul-Adha go beyond the slaughtering of animals and should inspire citizens to embrace compassion, sacrifice, unity and service to humanity.
He further stressed the need for continued harmony among people of different faiths and backgrounds, saying Ghana’s peaceful coexistence must be protected and strengthened at all times.
President Mahama also assured residents of Zongo communities that no part of the country would be left behind under the government’s national reset agenda. He expressed satisfaction with the progress being made on development initiatives in various Zongo communities across the country.
He disclosed that more development projects and support programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting businesses in the communities would soon be rolled out.
The national Eid ul-Adha celebration brought together Muslim faithful, traditional leaders, government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
