The Civil Service Council, on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and enhance service delivery across the public sector.



As part of the visit, the Council, led by its Chairman, Dr. Lawrence A. Kannae, first paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, where discussions focused on the Ministry’s priority interventions, social protection programmes, and emerging sector challenges.
Dr. Lawrence Kannae noted that the Council remains committed to supporting Ministries, Departments and Agencies to improve institutional effectiveness, administrative efficiency, and service delivery across the Civil Service.
Receiving the delegation, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey expressed appreciation to the Council for the visit and highlighted key interventions being undertaken by the Ministry to support vulnerable populations and strengthen social protection systems.
The Minister also outlined ongoing plans to establish integrated shelters for victims of abuse across the country through a “one-stop” model that would provide psychosocial support, legal aid, healthcare, and other essential services in a safe and conducive environment.
The visit formed part of a broader initiative by the Council to engage Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to better understand their operational mandates, challenges, strategic priorities, and achievements.
Welcoming the delegation during the management engagement session, the Chief Director of MoGCSP, Dr. Marian W. A. Kpakpah, highlighted the Ministry’s critical role in promoting social inclusion, protecting vulnerable populations, and advancing gender equality in Ghana.
On behalf of the Council, Dr. Lawrence Kannae commended the Ministry for its dedication to social protection and national development, while underscoring the importance of discipline, professionalism, accountability, and innovation in repositioning the Civil Service to meet the evolving needs of the country.
The Head of Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, also encouraged officers to embrace teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning to enhance service delivery and effectively respond to emerging social challenges.
A presentation highlighting the Ministry’s departments, programmes, interventions, policy initiatives, and key achievements was delivered to the Council, followed by interactive discussions on institutional performance, service delivery, and challenges affecting the Civil Service.
The familiarisation visit is expected to deepen cooperation between the Civil Service Council and MoGCSP, ultimately contributing to improved policy implementation and enhanced service delivery for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
