The expected completion of the Accra–Kumasi Expressway by December 2028 is set to bring significant changes to transportation and economic activity along one of Ghana’s most important road corridors.
Director of the Accra to Kumasi Expressway project, Ing. Francis Ahlidza, has announced that the project is expected to be completed by December 2028.
The announcement provides renewed assurance to motorists, businesses and communities that rely heavily on the Accra to Kumasi route for the movement of people and goods.
The Accra to Kumasi corridor serves as a major link between the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, connecting two of Ghana’s key economic centres. The route is also important to traders, transport operators and logistics companies involved in the movement of goods across the country.
Once completed, the expressway is expected to improve the efficiency of transportation along the corridor by providing improved road infrastructure for motorists.
For businesses, a more efficient road connection could support the movement of goods between Accra and Kumasi and improve access to markets in communities located along the route.
The project is also expected to enhance connectivity between communities and major commercial centres, potentially creating opportunities for increased economic activity along the corridor.
