A delegation from the ECOWAS Commission, led by the Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, Dr. Sintiki Tarfa-Ugbe, commenced a two-day field mission on September 16, 2025, to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Ghana.

The mission aimed to assess and monitor the implementation of ECOWAS humanitarian assistance following the devastating 2022 and 2023 floods, which displaced thousands and destroyed homes and livelihoods across several communities in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.
To support recovery, beneficiaries carefully identified with the most vulnerable given priority received both food and non-food relief items, as well as training in livelihood skills such as baking, hairdressing, soap-making, and farming.
Each participant received start-up kits designed to build confidence, promote independence, and encourage self-reliance. Some beneficiaries shared personal testimonies, underscoring how the ECOWAS relief assistance has improved their daily lives, enhanced their standard of living, restored resilience, revived livelihoods, and strengthened their journey toward recovery.
