Chinese High-Tech Drones
In a groundbreaking trial, China deployed TB-A drones—normally used for reconnaissance—equipped with silver iodide rods to trigger rainfall over the drought-stricken Dongtian mountain area in Hami, Xinjiang. By dispersing these particles into clouds, the drones stimulate condensation, artificially enhancing rainfall.
This 45-day experiment highlights a bold step in weather modification technology, aimed at tackling severe water shortages across the region. Unlike older methods that relied on manned aircraft or ground-based rockets, drones offer precision targeting, lower costs, and safer operations. If successful, this program could redefine how nations fight drought, secure agriculture, and manage climate challenges in the decades ahead.
