The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will tomorrow, July 11, 2025, swear in its newly elected national executives at the Accra International Conference Center.
The event, which starts at 8:00 a.m., is under the theme, “Renewed Commitment, Consolidating the Legacy to Do More.” It will be attended by journalists, media owners, stakeholders, and government representatives, signaling a new phase for the Association.
Albert Kwabena Dwumfour will be officially sworn in as President of the GJA. Other executives to be sworn in include Rebecca Ekpe as Vice President, Dominic Hlordzi as General Secretary, Suleiman Mustapha as Organising Secretary, Bertha Badu-Agyei as Treasurer, and Zadok Kwame Gyesi as Public Affairs Officer.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on GTV and other major media platforms.
The new leadership is expected to focus on improving journalists’ welfare, promoting press freedom, and strengthening professionalism within the media landscape. Mr Dwumfour has pledged to work with stakeholders to advance the interests of journalists across the country.
Established in 1949, the GJA remains the umbrella body for journalists in Ghana, advocating ethical journalism and supporting media development.
The ceremony will set the stage for the new executives to outline their plans to members as the Association prepares to address industry challenges and contribute to Ghana’s democratic growth.
