Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians through targeted investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic transformation initiatives under the Reset Agenda.

Addressing members of the Ghanaian community during an engagement in Canada, the Vice President conveyed warm greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and provided an update on key government programmes aimed at building a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Ghana.

Speaking to the gathering, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the government remains focused on implementing policies that directly benefit citizens while creating a stable environment for economic growth.

“I conveyed President John Dramani Mahama’s warm greetings and shared with our compatriots the significant strides being made across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and other sectors that are positively impacting the lives of Ghanaians,” she said.

The Vice President noted that efforts to strengthen the economy are yielding positive results through improved inflation control, declining interest rates, and enhanced macroeconomic stability.

“Our focus is on creating an economy that works for everyone. Through sound economic management and strategic investments, we are laying the foundation for sustainable growth, job creation, and improved livelihoods,” she stated.

She highlighted the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Programme, describing it as a transformative initiative designed to stimulate enterprise, boost productivity, and expand employment opportunities across multiple sectors.

“The 24-Hour Economy programme is central to our vision of unlocking Ghana’s full productive potential by creating opportunities for businesses to operate efficiently and generate more jobs for our young people,” she explained.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also underscored the importance of the Big Push infrastructure programme, which seeks to accelerate road construction and rehabilitation nationwide.

“The Big Push represents a major investment in road infrastructure that will improve connectivity, facilitate trade, support economic activity, and enhance access to essential services and markets across the country,” she noted.

The Vice President further outlined the government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and industrialisation through initiatives such as Feed Ghana and the establishment of Farmer Service Centres.

“Agriculture remains a key pillar of our development strategy. Through Feed Ghana and Farmer Service Centres, we are supporting farmers with the resources, knowledge, and services they need to increase productivity and contribute to national food security,” she said.

On social development, she highlighted investments in education, healthcare, and financial inclusion, including the No-Fees Stress Policy, MahamaCares, Free Primary Healthcare, and the proposed Women’s Development Bank.

“The Women’s Development Bank is being established to provide accessible financial support to women entrepreneurs who often face barriers in accessing traditional financing. Empowering women economically is critical to national development,” she emphasized.

She added that the government remains committed to ensuring that development reaches all segments of society.

“Our goal is to build a Ghana where opportunity is available to all, where no one is left behind, and where every citizen can contribute to and benefit from national progress,” she said.

The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen ties with the Ghanaian diaspora and keep citizens abroad informed about government programmes and national development priorities.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured the Ghanaian community that the government would continue to pursue policies and programmes aimed at improving the well-being of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

“Government remains committed to building a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous Ghana for all. We value the contributions of the Ghanaian diaspora and look forward to working together in advancing our national development agenda,” she concluded.
