Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening humanitarian partnerships following a high-level engagement with leadership of World Vision in Seoul.

The Ambassador’s visit culminated in a strategic meeting with the organization’s President, Cho Myung-Hwan, where both sides reviewed ongoing interventions in Ghana and explored new pathways to deepen impact.

World Vision, which began in Korea and has operated in Ghana since 1979, has steadily built a strong footprint across the country. With approximately 260 staff members in Ghana, the organization currently runs seven active projects, supports over 60,000 children through sponsorship programmes, and is working toward an ambitious target of reaching 3 million people by 2030. Over the past 15 years alone, it has invested close to $70 million in Ghana, with a projected budget of $23 million for 2026.

Despite these significant contributions, Ambassador Choi noted that the organization’s visibility within Ghana does not yet match the scale of its impact.

“World Vision’s work in Ghana is both extensive and transformative, yet its recognition remains disproportionately low,” Ambassador Choi observed. “There is a compelling need to elevate awareness so that more Ghanaians can engage with and benefit from these interventions.”

At the heart of the discussions was a forward-looking proposal from the Ambassador, urging the addition of two new projects in the coming year to complement existing programmes focused on child welfare, nutrition, health, and education.

“Ghana stands at a critical moment where targeted, community-driven interventions can yield generational change,” he stated. “Expanding project coverage will not only deepen impact but also ensure that no vulnerable child or community is left behind.”

President Cho Myung-Hwan welcomed the renewed engagement, reaffirming World Vision’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s development agenda.

“Our mission has always been to serve the most vulnerable, and Ghana remains a priority country for us,” he said. “We are encouraged by the Ambassador’s vision and look forward to exploring innovative projects that respond to emerging needs.”

The meeting also underscored the importance of partnerships—not only between governments and NGOs, but also with citizens and communities. Ambassador Choi called on Ghanaians to actively contribute ideas and support initiatives that can drive meaningful change.

“Development is most effective when it is inclusive,” he emphasized. “Every idea, every contribution matters. Together, we can transform communities and secure a better future for our children.”

As Ghana continues to navigate complex social and economic challenges, the renewed collaboration between Ghana and World Vision signals a promising step toward sustainable, people-centered development—anchored in shared responsibility and collective action.
