The Savannah Regional Peace Council has successfully organized a two-day training programme in Chache in the Bole Municipality of the Savannah Region from 6th to 7th April 2026, under the theme “Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in the Atlantic Corridor.”
The training brought together over 50 participants, including Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, traditional and religious leaders, women, and youth from Chache.

Savannah Regional Peace Council Training in Bole.The programme aimed to strengthen community resilience, enhance social cohesion, and build the capacity of local actors to effectively prevent and respond to violent extremism. Participants were taken through key topics including understanding violent extremism trends, identifying local risk factors, and strengthening Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) systems for timely intervention.
The engagement also created a platform for inclusive dialogue, fostering collaboration among traditional authorities, local government actors, women, and youth in addressing emerging security challenges within their communities.
With support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and co-funding from the Embassies of Norway and Denmark, the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to empower communities along the Atlantic Corridor to actively contribute to peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
The programme was graced by distinguished personalities, including ASI Francis Owusu of the Ghana Immigration Service, Bole Command, and a representative of the Chachewura, whose presence reinforced the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in safeguarding peace.
Similar Engagements will be made in Chieyiri, Jang, and Mempeasem.
The National Peace Council remains committed to promoting peace, strengthening local prevention mechanisms, and ensuring that communities are equipped to resist violent extremist narratives and threats.
