UAE Delegation Explores Opportunities in Ghana’s Energy Sector.

President John Dramani Mahama has welcomed a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates led by Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as Ghana seeks to deepen economic cooperation and attract strategic investments into the country’s energy sector.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the longstanding friendship between Ghana and the UAE while exploring new areas of collaboration that can contribute to economic growth, energy security, and sustainable development.

During discussions with the delegation, President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s commitment to building strong international partnerships that support national development priorities.

“Ghana welcomes partnerships that create value for our people, strengthen our economy, and accelerate development. The UAE has been a trusted partner, and we look forward to expanding our cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.”

The engagement focused particularly on opportunities within Ghana’s energy sector, including investment prospects aimed at improving energy infrastructure, enhancing reliability, and supporting industrial growth.

President Mahama noted that access to dependable energy remains central to Ghana’s transformation agenda, stressing the importance of partnerships that bring capital, technology, and expertise into the sector.

“A strong energy sector is the foundation for economic transformation. We are committed to working with investors who share our vision of a resilient and sustainable energy future for Ghana.”

The UAE delegation, led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed interest in strengthening economic ties with Ghana and exploring areas where both countries can work together to promote investment and development.

The visit reflects the growing relationship between Ghana and the UAE, which has expanded beyond diplomatic relations into trade, infrastructure, technology, energy, and investment cooperation.

Observers say increased UAE investment in Ghana’s energy landscape could provide opportunities for job creation, industrial expansion, and improved access to reliable power for businesses and households.

The meeting also reinforces Ghana’s position as an attractive investment destination in West Africa, with government emphasising a commitment to creating a stable environment for international partnerships.

As Ghana continues to pursue economic transformation, the renewed engagement with the UAE signals a shared commitment to building a partnership anchored on investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

“Our cooperation is built on friendship, trust, and a shared ambition to improve the lives of our people,” President Mahama said. “Together, we can create opportunities that benefit generations to come.”
