The Ghana First Alliance has announced plans to stage a peaceful demonstration in response to recent xenophobic attacks against Africans, particularly Ghanaians, in South Africa.

Speaking at a press conference at the International Press Centre in Accra on June 3, 2026, the group disclosed that it had officially notified the Ghana Police Service of its intention to embark on the protest and demand stronger diplomatic and economic action against South Africa.
The Alliance commended the Government of Ghana for facilitating the evacuation of about 300 Ghanaians from South Africa but stressed the need for long-term measures to safeguard Ghanaian citizens living and working abroad.
Among its key demands are a review of Ghana’s visa-free policy with South Africa, stricter immigration enforcement against illegal South African nationals residing in Ghana, and sanctions against South African-owned businesses operating in the country.
The group emphasized that the demonstration would be peaceful and lawful, urging Ghanaians to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory actions. According to the Alliance, dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive engagement remain the most effective means of addressing the crisis and promoting African unity.
