The Citizens Platform on Constitutional Reform is set to convene a stakeholder dialogue on “Building Consensus on Constitutional Reform in Ghana” on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The programme is being convened by the Citizens Platform on Constitutional Reform, a coalition convened by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD Ghana), STAR Ghana Foundation and Democracy Hub.
The engagement comes amid renewed discussions over recommendations for reforming aspects of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and the need for an inclusive process that allows citizens and key stakeholders to contribute to decisions that could shape the country’s constitutional future.
The Citizens Platform has previously called for a clear legal and institutional framework to guide the reform process, including defined timelines, sustained public engagement and civic education.
The September 29 dialogue is therefore expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine areas of convergence and disagreement and explore practical ways of building consensus around the proposed reforms.
Discussions are also expected to focus on how the reform process can be made transparent, participatory and sustainable, including mechanisms for continued public consultation.
The engagement forms part of broader civil society efforts to deepen public understanding of constitutional reform and encourage informed participation in the national debate.
