A delegation from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), led by its Commandant, Air Vice Marshall David Akrong, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, to deepen collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting built on the existing partnership between the Ministry and KAIPTC on gender related issues and focused on strengthening efforts to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Discussions also centred on harmonising the National Action Plan and enhancing coordination between national policies and grassroots implementation.
The Minister emphasised the importance of partnerships in promoting gender equality and sustainable peace. ” peace building cannot be sustained without the active participation of women. This collaboration will help strengthen our efforts to empower women, from national decision making spaces to community leadership structures, ” she said.
Air Vice Marshall Akrong highlighted KAIPTC’s continued support for gender- focused initiatives, such as Women in Peace and Security, Affirmative Action and Gender Policy. He also informed the Minister on their specialised training programmes tailored for women and Women Parliamentarians. He also mentioned an upcoming Gender Advisory Course aimed at equipping leaders with skills to integrate gender perspectives into peace and security governance.
The meeting further explored ways to strengthen data collection and knowledge sharing, to bridge the gap between national and the grassroots (Queen mothers, Community Leaders etc.) through Peacebuilding efforts, expand advocacy for women peace builders.
Both institutions also discussed plans to formalise their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding to guide future joint initiatives.
