Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is calling for more of Ghana’s cocoa to be processed locally to create jobs, boost revenue, and strengthen the economy. She made the call in Accra during a strategic meeting with the leadership of the Cocoa Processing Company, CPC, led by Managing Director, Professor William Coffie.

The discussions centered on adding value to Ghana’s cocoa and improving the competitiveness of Ghanaian cocoa products on both local and international markets. Management of CPC briefed the Vice President on recent gains, including a one hundred percent increase in the company’s share price over the last three months, which they say reflects growing investor confidence in Ghana’s cocoa sector.

Vice President, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged CPC to increase distribution of cocoa-based products within Ghana, especially to senior high schools, to boost local consumption, support youth nutrition, and promote appreciation for made-in-Ghana products. She also highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, as a key opportunity for CPC to expand into markets across Africa.
