The Lagos-based Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest industrial companies, has inked a $400 million equipment deal with Chinese construction giant XCMG to expand its Dangote Petroleum Refinery.  It aims to increase production from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day — which could make it the largest refinery in the world.

The Dangote Groups said the new equipment will support refining, petrochemicals, agriculture, and infrastructure projects. The three-year expansion plan will also raise polypropylene production—a plastic used in everyday products such as packaging, containers, and car parts—to 2.4 million tonnes per year. #DWAfrica
