Second Deputy of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante Asiedu had the privilege of representing the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, at the 67th Meeting of the Committee of Governors of Central Banks of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held in Monrovia, Liberia, from 12–13 February 2026.
The deliberations she said focused on ”addressing emerging macroeconomic and financial sector challenges, while advancing the roadmap toward the establishment of the ECOWAS Monetary Union”.

On behalf of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante Asiedu also chaired the 50th Board of Governors Meeting of the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), convened alongside engagements with sister regional institutions, including the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) and the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI).

It is understood that Regional coordination remains essential as we work toward a stable, credible, and resilient monetary union that supports sustainable growth and shared prosperity across our sub-region.
