LACK OF RESPONSIBLE PARENTING -OUTCOME INDISCIPLINE. STOP REWARDING BAD BEHAVIOR IN EVERY SPACE.
1. We had no business adopting all manner of policies that come with grants/funding without considering our cultural context.
2. It is the role and responsibility of parents to mould their children. The schools should add to the foundation parents give. The foundation is laid at home. Parents are the beneficiaries of their wards.
3. The schools are overwhelmed. Denying that will be detrimental to our collective responsibility of finding solutions.
4. There must be consequences for bad behavior. You cannot be rewarding bad behavior and expect decorum and well behaved children/adults.
5. Discipline and undiscipline are not bedfellows.
6. The bad behavior of children is due to what they see and what they know they can get away with. “Monkey see, Monkey do”
7. My father died at 106 years. He NEVER beat me. I had boundaries. There were rules and regulations. We were rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad behavior. Even after his death, I still wonder what he will say about what I do. Values and responsibilities are built at home.
8. The more we tolerate, ignore and reward bad behavior, the more we get to see such behaviors.
9. PUNISH BAD BEHAVIOR.
10. Bad behavior can be found in all sectors of our socio-political-cultural space; family, religion, education, economics, politics etc.
FIX IT! BE BOLD, IT IS BROKEN, FIX IT.
