The vibrant sounds of drums, traditional chants and cultural pride are once again echoing across Nungua as preparations intensify for this year’s Kplejoo Festival, and the celebrations have received a timely boost from the area’s Member of Parliament.
In keeping with an annual tradition, the MP, together with the Municipal Chief Executive of the Krowor Municipal Assembly, presented assorted items to the Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse in support of activities marking the revered Kplejoo Festival.
The presentation, made on Thursday, July 2, is part of a longstanding commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural identity of the Ga people while recognising the invaluable role of traditional authorities in safeguarding community values and customs.
Receiving the items, the traditional leadership welcomed the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the strong partnership between elected leaders and the custodians of Nungua’s heritage.

The Kplejoo Festival, one of the most significant traditional celebrations in the Ga calendar, is a period of thanksgiving, reflection and renewal. It attracts indigenes, visitors and cultural enthusiasts who gather to witness colourful processions, traditional rites, music, dance and displays of Ga customs passed down through generations.
The annual support, according to the MP, goes beyond the donation of festival items. It is an affirmation of respect for the spiritual leadership and traditional institutions that continue to preserve the history, identity and unity of the people of Nungua.
The MP extended warm wishes to the Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo, the chiefs, elders and residents of Krowor, expressing hope that this year’s festival would be celebrated in peace, unity and prosperity.
As anticipation builds for the festivities, the donation serves as another reminder that preserving culture requires collective responsibility—bringing together government, traditional leaders and the community to ensure cherished customs continue to thrive for future generations.
With preparations now in full swing, residents are looking forward to another memorable edition of the Kplejoo Festival, where tradition, spirituality and community pride will once again take centre stage.
Afi’ooo… Afi!
