In Conakry, Mr. Abdoulie Janneh, head of the ECOWAS Election Observation Mission (EOM), takes part in the observers’ briefing session and meets with the Director General of Elections (DGE).
In preparation for the presidential election in Guinea Conakry scheduled for December 28, 2025, the Head of the ECOWAS Electoral Observation Mission (EOM), Mr. Abdoulie Janneh, participated on December 25, 2025, in Conakry, in the briefing session of the 133 short-term Electoral Observers (STOs) deployed by ECOWAS.

In addition to Mr. Abdoulie Janneh , the following took part in this meeting: the Deputy Head of the EOM, Senator Lawan Gana Guba ; the Commissioner for Political Affairs of the ECOWAS Commission, Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah ; the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Guinea, H.E. Louis Blaise Aka Brou ; the Director of the Cabinet of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Abdou Kolley ; as well as the representative of the ECOWAS Parliament, the representative of the Community Court of Justice, and finally, the representative of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States to ECOWAS.
During his speech, Mr. Abdoulie Janneh stated that the presence of 133 observers from the ECOWAS observation mission demonstrates ECOWAS’s commitment to supporting Guinea in its return to constitutional order and its full reintegration as an ECOWAS member country.
He also reminded the hundred or so observers present that they represent the eyes and ears of ECOWAS and that their various field observation reports will form the basis of ECOWAS’s final report on the conduct of the presidential election of December 28, 2025. ” ECOWAS has faith and urges Guineans to organize a democratic, inclusive and peaceful electoral process, ” he said.
Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah, Commissioner for Political Affairs of the ECOWAS Commission, for his part, wished to commend the authorities of the Republic of Guinea for the organization of this presidential election, a symbol of democracy and of a return to normal constitutional order in the country.
Later that day, the head of the Election Observation Mission (EOM), accompanied by his delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the Directorate General of Elections (DGE) to inquire about the progress of the electoral process. He received assurances from Ms. Djenabou Touré Camara , Director General of Elections, that everything would be ready by December 28, election day: materials were being shipped, polling station staff were being trained, and the ECOWAS recommendations made after the constitutional referendum of September 21, 2025, had been taken into account and were already being implemented.
