GJA Public Affairs Officer Rebecca Ekpe throws hat into Vice-Presidential ring

Editor-In-Chief of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, and current Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA, Madam Rebecca Ekpe, has officially declared her intention to contest as Vice President of the Association in the upcoming national executive elections. This she says is inspired by her passion for media growth and development.
The move marks a significant step in Madam Ekpe’s expanding leadership journey within the GJA, having served a term as Public Affairs Officer, of the Association.
The Vice Presidential aspirant hopes to support the advancement of journalism and the overall growth of the media industry in Ghana.
The seasoned media professional, who has received both local and international recognition for journalistic excellence goes into the election with extensive experience in media practice.
She is known for her commitment to journalists’ welfare, and expected to contribute to shaping GJA’s policies and initiatives towards excellence in journalism as well as protecting the rights of members, journalists and the media fraternity in general.
In a brief remark, after filling her nomination, Madam Ekpe, asked journalists in the country to take interest in the affairs of the Association. She expressed confidence in her vision to elevate the GJA to greater heights adding she remains committed to protecting and empowering members in an evolving media landscape.
Madam Ekpe, appealed to journalists to come out in their numbers and vote massively for her, pledging her commitment to reposition the association to make it more accessible to journalists.
The GJA Elections Committee, opened nominations on May 16, 2025, for members in good standing to vie for leadership roles within the association.
Balloting for positions took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, which also marked the official start of campaigns, with elections slated for June 30, 2025.
Other positions up for grabs include President, General Secretary, Organizing Secretary, Treasurer and Public Affairs Officer, as well as various regional offices.
