The Ghana Journalists Association, GJA, has begun a comprehensive review of its annual Media Awards Scheme ahead of the landmark 30th GJA Media Awards. The Association is inviting members to submit proposals and recommendations to strengthen the awards and make the 30th edition a memorable celebration of excellence in journalism.
The National Executive of the Ghana Journalists Association says the review is aimed at ensuring the Media Awards remain relevant to the evolving media landscape while maintaining the integrity, credibility and prestige that have defined the scheme over the past 29 editions.
The Association is encouraging members to submit suggestions on areas including award categories, eligibility criteria, judging and assessment processes, award presentation and event organisation, as well as ideas to make the 30th edition a historic celebration.

The GJA says members may also propose any other innovations that will enhance the quality, credibility and impact of the Awards Scheme.

The GJA notes that although the Association was established in 1949, the Media Awards have been held 29 times, with some editions not organised due to prevailing national and institutional circumstances.
The Association says the 30th GJA Media Awards will celebrate excellence in journalism, the resilience of the profession, and the contributions of media practitioners to Ghana’s democratic development.
