The items were presented on behalf of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey by the Head of the Domestic Violence Secretariat, who delivered the Minister’s message if encouragement and reassurance.
In her message, the Minister reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring that survivors of abuse are not left behind after rescue but are supported to regain control over their lives.
“We are intentional about helping survivors rebuild. Providing practical support like this is a step towards restoring hope, dignity and economic independence,” she emphasised.
The intervention forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide care for survivors, combining psychosocial support, legal assistance, and economic empowerment to promote long-term recovery.
The Head of the Domestic Violence Secretariat, Madam Malonin Asibi during the presentation engaged the family, sensitising them on the serious consequences of abuse, including psychological trauma, long term health implications and in extreme cases loss of life. She further highlighted how abuse can lead to family breakdown and expose vulnerable individuals, especially children to life on the streets and associated social vices.
She therefore called on the family to provide strong emotional support to Ms Amuzu to aid her full recovery and urged the public to speak up and act against all forms of abuse, stressing that such situations can affect anyone
Ms. Amuzu expressed her gratitude to the Ministry for the support, describing it as timely and life changing.
