Germany and Ghana brought together senior government leaders, industry voices, and development partners for the first ever German-Ghanaian Business Day in Accra. The business day formed part of the bilateral negotiations for development cooperation between the two countries.

The German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, shared opening remarks, followed by Christoph Rauh from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) & Stefanie Schmid-Lübbert from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). All three emphasised the momentum in bilateral trade and investment, pointing to Ghana’s reform agenda as a way to form deeper collaboration.
Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, set out Ghana’s priorities in the keynote address.
From industrialisation and stronger value-chains to job-creating manufacturing. She underlined Ghana’s ambition to expand cooperation with German partners and shared plans including the establishment of new garment factories in three regions.
The programme featured a pitch segment on German trade and development instruments by expert contributions from AHK Ghana, GIZ and KfW and a series of breakout discussions across strategic sectors:
– agribusiness,
– energy,
– construction,
– health & pharmaceuticals,
– and the digital economy.
These sessions gave space to translate political dialogue into practical partnerships and develop project ideas to be taken up by development cooperation.
