Mr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Chief Executive Officer of Special Ice Limited, adjudged the Chamber Businessman of the Year.

Mr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, the Chief Executive Officer of Special Ice Limited, has been adjudged the Chamber Businessman of the Year at the 5th Chamber Business Awards 2025 in Accra.

Nana Krobea Asante, Chief Executive Officer of Azmera Restaurant, was also awarded the Chamber Businesswoman of the Year, and Mr Abraham Eghan of Hallmark café was the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Other awardees are Media Personality of the Year, George Wiafe, Automobile-Dealership Company of the Year-Zonda Tech Ghana Limited, Pharmaceutical Company of the Year-Pharmanova Limited, Oil and Gas Company Limited, Goil Ghana Limited and Export Company of the Year-Kasaperko.

Mr Stephen Miezan, the President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), speaking at the awards, said, “We celebrate businesses and individuals whose vision, hard work, and integrity continue to shape Ghana’s economic story.”

He said the event was not only to applaud achievements, but to reaffirm the collective belief in the power of the private sector to drive national transformation.

The event organised by GNCCI was on the theme: “Revitalising Ghana’s Development Agenda through Strategic Public–Private Collaboration.”

It was to create a credible platform that celebrates excellence and sets a national benchmark for responsible business practice.

He said the vision had deepened over time, and these Awards stand as a symbol of discipline, creativity, and commitment, the very qualities that define Ghana’s private sector.

“Behind every honour tonight lies a story of innovation, sound business practice and courage through many domestic and global economic challenges,” he added.

He said Ghana’s economy was regaining momentum and the new administration had set a clear course to restore confidence, stabilise the economy, and put productive investment at the heart of national growth.

Mr Miezan said the private sector remained the engine that converted policy into progress; adding that without thriving enterprises, national plans stay on paper.

“For Ghana to succeed, the public and private sectors must work in true partnership,” he added

The CEO said, “We can emulate successful Public-Private collaborations such as the Accra-Tema Motorway and Extensions Project, the partnership

between Ghana Highway Authority and A.T. Expressway Limited.”

He said the Chamber under L.I. 611 of 1968 (Act 232) existed to protect and promote the interests of the Ghanaian private sector.

He said the Chamber’s mission was to ensure that Ghana’s private sector remained competitive, ethical, and growth-driven in today’s global economy.

The CEO said the call for collaboration must go beyond speeches, and it must reflect budgets, credit flows, execution of infrastructure, and protection of local industries.

“We, therefore, welcome government’s renewed engagement in industrial revitalisation, infrastructure financing, and value-chain development,” he added.
