A delegation from the ECOWAS Commission, on behalf of the President of the Commission, Dr. Alieu Omar Touray, and the Commissioner for Social Affairs and Gender, Professor Fatou Sow Sarr, undertook a five-day field mission from 6–10 April 2026 to the Republic of Guinea. The mission aimed to assess the impact of ECOWAS’s 2024 flood response and to officially launch a humanitarian assistance project valued at USD 604,576 for persons of concern, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and host communities.

The launch ceremony featured the symbolic presentation of a cheque of USD 604,576 to the Government of Guinea, represented by Mr. Mohammed C.K. Camara, Secretary General of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. The project will be implemented by Zero Poverty Africa under the coordination and supervision of the National Agency for the Management of Humanitarian Emergencies and Disasters (ANGUCH), in line with international humanitarian standards.
As part of the mission, the ECOWAS delegation, alongside national counterparts, visited Souguéta and M’boro to conduct first-hand assessments of previous interventions. They en-gaged with beneficiaries of the 2024 flood response and inspected ongoing community infra-structure projects, including the newly renovated three classroom blocks at a primary school, the health centre, and the construction of a borehole with multiple water access points in the M’boro community to ease their access to clean water and improve sanitation and standard of living.
