The Domestic Violence Secretariat (DVS) of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has convened the Second Quarter Meeting of the Domestic Violence Management Board (DVMB) to review progress made in the implementation of activities for 2026 and discuss key issues aimed at strengthening Ghana’s response to domestic violence.
The meeting was convened to assess the status of the Board’s 2026 workplan, review progress made during the period under consideration, and discuss priorities and strategic interventions for the remainder of the year aimed at strengthening the country’s response to domestic violence.
In her welcome remarks, the Chairperson of the Board, Dr. Miriam Iddrisu, welcomed members and commended them for their dedication to advancing the Board’s mandate. She emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among stakeholders in strengthening efforts to prevent domestic violence and ensure effective protection and support for survivors.
Presenting an update on the implementation of the Board’s 2026 workplan, the Head of the Domestic Violence Secretariat, Madam Malonin Asibi, highlighted key activities undertaken during the period and outlined priorities for the rest of the year.
She underscored the need for continued support and coordinated action to enhance service delivery and further safeguard vulnerable persons against all forms of domestic violence.
Among the issues discussed were updates on the implementation of planned activities, the outlook for the rest of 2026, and proposals relating to the establishment of a Domestic Violence Shelter to provide support and protection for survivors of abuse.
The meeting also afforded members the opportunity to deliberate on other matters geared towards enhancing response mechanisms and promoting the welfare and safety of vulnerable persons.
The Domestic Violence Management Board serves as a key platform for coordinating policies and interventions aimed at preventing domestic violence and ensuring that survivors have access to the protection and support services they need.
