Chief Justice Baffoe Bonnie and Finance Minister Ato Forson hold talks; hints of 100% IGF utilization for judiciary

Ghana’s Chief Justice, Baffoe Bonnie and Finance  Minister, Ato Forson have held discussions.
Mr. Ato Forson said, he received the Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie, who paid a courtesy call accompanied by Supreme Court Judge, Justice Gabriel Pwamang, the Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, and the Judicial Secretary.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, was also present.
The Chief Justice indicated that the visit was to express appreciation for the Ministry of Finance’s support to the Judiciary.
He underscored congestion in the courts as a major constraint to effective justice delivery and outlined a range of solutions currently in the pipeline to address this challenge.
He also highlighted concerns regarding the working conditions of the Judiciary.
Mr. Ato Forson expressed commitment to supporting the Judiciary.
”I am committed to working closely with the Judiciary and the Ministry of Justice to tackle these challenges”.

Mr. Ato Forson hints of allowing the Judiciary to utilize 100% of its IGF.
”As part of the measures under consideration, I am examining the possibility of allowing the Judiciary to utilize 100 percent of its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to address pressing operational needs”.
