The AWiM team landed in Addis Ababa on Sunday and while the city has welcomed us with its famous winds and chilly evenings, our hearts are nothing but warm. Why? Because in just hours, we will be welcoming over 300 incredible delegates to the African Union Commission for AWiM25 a landmark gathering shaping the future of gender equality in and through media.

Over the past few days, our team has been hard at work preparing the venue, finalizing logistics, and making sure every detail reflects the spirit of AWiM: collaboration, courage, and collective transformation. The energy here is electric, the kind that only comes when you know something historic is about to unfold.
And it truly is.
In just 35 hours, we are not simply attending a conference, we are stepping into a milestone for African women in media, a moment where ideas become commitments, collaborations become Communities of Practice, and conversations become policies that drive real change.
This year, our sessions draw inspiration from the AU CE-VAWG framework and the Kigali Declaration, guiding us as we co-create solutions, challenge norms, and strengthen the movement for a gender-safe media ecosystem across the continent.

Whether you are already here in Addis or joining us from afar, you are part of this journey. If you couldn’t make it in person, we’ve got you covered. Follow every moment, from keynote sparks to behind-the-scenes magic on our social platforms. Stay plugged in, inspired, and connected by following our hashtags:

The countdown may be over, but the momentum is only just beginning.
Here’s to an unforgettable week of learning, networking, co-creation, and collective progress.
Here’s to AWiM25 and to changing the story, together.
