Ghana and Gabon have taken steps to deepen their bilateral relations with the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding at the Presidency in Accra.
The agreements, which cover political consultations and the training of diplomats, followed bilateral discussions between the two countries aimed at strengthening cooperation.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by President John Dramani Mahama and the visiting President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, signed on behalf of Ghana, while his Gabonese counterpart, Marie-Edith Tassyla Doumbeneny, signed for Gabon.
Mr. Ablakwa said the two agreements represent an important step towards consolidating the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Gabon and creating new avenues for collaboration.
He added that the political consultations and diplomatic training programmes will enhance exchanges between officials of both countries and promote stronger cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
