Today’s presentation of the 2025 Budget to Parliament drew a lot of debates in the streets and across social media and multiple media platforms in Ghana.
However, what stood out most is how the finance minister appeared in Parliament.
Quite a departure from his predecessor, Ken Ofori Atta, who always wore a white attire, the current Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson wore a dark blue-black suit with corresponding tie.
Even more notable is the briefcase he carried containing the Budget statement he delivered to Parliament today, Tuesday March 11, 2025.
”As Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stepped out on Budget Day, the cameras weren’t just focused on him—the nation’s eyes were drawn to the rich, handcrafted leather briefcase he carried”, as depicted on his Facebook.
The briefcase was described as a show case for Ghana.
” This was no ordinary bag. It was The Horseman Minimalist Handmade Leather Briefcase, a product of Ghanaian excellence, designed by celebrated shoemaker Tonyi Senayah’s Horseman”.
As captured on his Facebook, ”the Budget was symbolically carried in a Made-in-Ghana bag—an embodiment of President John Mahama’s “Buy Ghana, Wear Ghana” agenda”.
”Crafted from premium authentic leather, this briefcase wasn’t just about functionality; it was about telling a story of resilience, self-reliance, and national pride”, the statement noted on Facebook.
