MP for Korle-Klottey, Dr. Zenator Agyemang Rawlings has been speaking on the importance of Mental Health and the need to prioritize self-care.
As part of a Mental Health Awareness engagement hosted by the Gaming Commission at Accra Technical University in the Constituency, the MP spoke of the urgency of the subject matter.
300 students from different areas of study were in attendance.
”The focus of the event was timely and urgent”, Dr. Agyemang-Rawlings highlighted.
The program addressed how sports betting and gaming are impacting the mental health of students.
She emphasized that mental health challenges go beyond just gaming.
”They include addictions to substances, sex, and more”, the MP noted.
”These are real struggles that many young people are silently confronted with”, according to Dr. Agyemang Rawlings.
One key message she also shared was the importance of truly listening.
”Too often, we ask “How are you?” without waiting for the real answer. We need to pause, be present, and truly hear each other, because sometimes, just listening can save a life”, shared Dr. Zenator Rawlings.
She was patinate about paying attention to the conversations.
”As we continue to observe Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s commit to making these conversations part of our everyday lives”.
