Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has extended her warmest congratulations to Mr Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie on his appointment as the Chief Justice of Ghana.
“His elevation is a testament to decades of discipline and unwavering commitment to the rule of law,” Vice President Professor Opoku-Agyemang said in a statement.
“We trust he will continue to uphold the timeless values of fairness, independence, and justice without fear or favour.
“The strength of our democracy rests on an impartial judiciary, and I am confident that his leadership will further deepen public trust in our institutions. Ghana looks forward to a legacy of enduring justice,” the statement said.
Mr Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who was sworn into office on Monday, November 17, at the Presidency in Accra by President John Dramani Mahama, is the 16th Chief Justice of Ghana.
The inauguration is in line with Article 144 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
Prior to his inauguration, Mr Baffoe-Bonnie who is the most senior Supreme Court Justice, had been the Acting Chief Justice for the past seven months, following the suspension and the subsequent removal from office, of Lady Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, based on the recommendations of the Justice Gabriel Pwamang Committee.
