Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has joined stakeholders in Koforidua today for the 2026 Controller and Accountant-General’s Annual Conference, held under the theme “Leveraging Technology, Transparency and Accountability for Sustainable Fiscal Governance.”
Sound accounting systems are central to effective governance, enabling Government to plan, allocate resources efficiently, and deliver results.
She noted that fiscal discipline, deliberate reforms, and strong institutional performance lead to measurable outcomes, and these are reflected in recent economic improvements, including declining inflation and a more stable currency.

”The future of fiscal governance lies in using responsible digital transformation and innovation to enhance efficiency, reduce leakages, and improve real-time financial reporting. Strengthening payroll systems, eliminating irregularities such as ghost names, and ensuring transparent, verifiable processes remain critical to safeguarding public resources”, the Vice President noted.
She also underscored Government’s commitment to ensuring that every Cedi delivers value for the people.
”The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department remains central to this agenda, playing a key role in translating policy into impact and ensuring that public resources are used effectively”.
Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang commended the Department for its dedication to public service and encouraged continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and professional excellence.
