Ultimate Women Foundation urges promotion of creative, artistic talents of women and girls

Dr Freda Prempeh, the Founder of the Ultimate Women Foundation has called for the promotion of creative artistic talents of women and girls, as the world marks the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD).
The foundation seeks to encourage and motivate indigenous and vulnerable women and girls to know their worth and to empower and well-position them to contribute to the development of their communities and the larger society.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Dr Prempeh, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency, also urged Ghanaians to speak against stereotypes, and biases, and celebrate women successes.

The global theme for the celebration of the IWD, which falls on March 8, every year, and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, is “For all Women and Girls: The Rights, Equality and Empowerment”.

During the celebration, observed annually, impactful organizations and groups across the world deliver an array of effective strategies, resources and activities that help accelerate action for women and girls’ empowerment.

Dr. Prempeh said women and girls’ empowerment ought to be forged in the country by recruiting, retaining and developing diverse talents, saying supporting women and girls into leadership, decision-making, businesses remained necessary to position them well to contribute to meaningful development.

There is also the need for the nation to do more in designing and building infrastructure meeting the needs of women and girls as well as helping them to make informed decisions about their health too, Dr. Prempeh noted.
“As the chunk of the nation’s population, involving women and girls in sustainable agriculture and food security, providing them with quality education and training as well as elevating their participation and achievement in sport will thereby create a better society for all”, Dr Prempeh stated.

That will further inspire women to climb higher in politics and actively participate in decision-making processes and governance.
Dr Prempeh highlighted the significant roles of women, ranging from being caregivers to becoming protectors, friends and mentors.
Despite their enormous contributions to the nation’s holistic development, the former legislator bemoaned that many women and girls still went through the worst forms of human rights abuses, calling for radical measures to protect women and girls’ rights in society.
