Today is World Oral Health Day.

The global community is observing the day under the theme ‘’A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind.” This global event highlights the importance of good oral hygiene in maintaining an overall well-being. Health experts emphasize, proper dental care does not only prevent gum disease and tooth decay, but it also contributes to great mental and emotional health.

Across the world, dental professionals are organizing free check-ups, educational programs, and awareness campaigns to promote healthy oral habits.

Ghana marks World Oral Day

Meanwhile, as part of the World Oral Day celebrations in Ghana, the Ministry of Health is urging all Ghanaians to take oral hygiene very seriously by brushing at least twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, limit sugary and acidic foods, avoid tobacco and alcohol and also visit the dentist regularly.

The Ministry of Health is also appealing to stakeholders, including healthcare providers, schools, community leaders, and the private sector to mount efforts that promote and support oral health.

Furthermore, in line with World Oral Day, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC has organized an Oral health screening for its staff, sending out a message to all Ghanaians to make Oral Health a priority.
