This is not a time for division- President Mahama on Ghana’s tragic loss in helicopter crash

An Investigative Board of Inquiry has been constituted to examine the cause of the helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom in Ashanti. President John Mahama who announced this last night also said the flight data and cock pit voice recorders have been retrieved. President Mahama assured the families of the deceased and the nation, that the Ghana Armed Forces has also initiated a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

President Mahama also announced an interdenominational state funeral service to be held on Saturday, August 15, for the eight victims of the crash at the Black Star Square in Accra. The nation will gather at the forecourt of the State House tomorrow at 5PM for an Evening of Reflections and Memorial in honour of the victims. President Mahama called for national unity, not speculation and political point scoring. The President described the victims as gallant men who served Ghana with distinction.

Meanwhile, books of condolence will be opened simultaneously at the Ministry of Defence, the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the NDC Headquarters, Ministries of Environment, Science and Technology, Foreign Affairs, and the head office of NADMO, from Sunday, August 10 to Thursday, August 14, 2025.
