Elections across the region often take place in complex political and security contexts, where tensions can threaten democratic stability. Through the “Electoral Violence Monitoring, Analysis and Mitigation (E-MAM)” project, partners are working together to monitor risks, analyze early warning data, and support timely responses that help reduce election-related violence.

To strengthen analysis, coordination, and communication of election-related information, strategic communication and operational equipment are being provided through the Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project to support the work of WANEP’s early warning and response teams across the region.
The EPSG project is financed by the @European Union and Germany and implemented under a Team Europe approach by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Expertise France, and Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Políticas Públicas, in close partnership with Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The support includes MacBook laptops, EPSON projectors, interactive smart boards, LED ring lighting, lavalier microphones, and software tools such as Canva Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, and CapCut Pro to enhance data analysis, communication, and visibility of the project’s work.
Implemented by WANEP with financial support from the European Union (EU) and in partnership with ECOWAS, ECONEC, and UNOWAS, the E-MAM project contributes to strengthening early warning systems and promoting peaceful electoral processes across West Africa.
By improving data analysis, communication, and stakeholder coordination, the initiative continues to support more peaceful elections and stronger democratic governance across the region.
