Editor in- chief at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Rebecca Ekpe has been officially sworn in as the new Vice President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) at a ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang and the Acting Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who administered the oath of office to the newly elected executives.
In her acceptance remarks, Rebecca Ekpe expressed gratitude to GJA members for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work closely with the new leadership to advance the welfare of journalists in the country.
“I am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that journalists in Ghana operate in a safe and supportive environment while upholding the highest standards of professionalism,” she stated.
The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman congratulated the new GJA executives and encouraged them to continue promoting press freedom while maintaining ethical journalism in Ghana’s democratic development.
The ceremony brought together journalists, media stakeholders, and civil society representatives, all of whom expressed optimism about the future of the Association under the new leadership.
