Rebecca Ekpe speaks at FOSDA Forum to empower young women

Editor in Chief of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, Rebecca Ekpe has been speaking on how young people can challenge themselves by unleashing their creative potentials and leveraging on technology to tell positive stories for social change.

Madam Ekpe was contributing to a panel discussion at a Student Forum on Women, Peace, and Security at the Ghana Communication Technology University in Accra (GCTU).

It was on the theme; Empowering Young Women: Accelerating Action for the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in West Africa.

It was organized by the Foundation for Security Development in Africa, (FOSDA) in partnership with the West African Network for Peace Building (WANEP), the UNOWAS Working Group on Women Peace, Youth and Security and the Women’s Commission of the GCTCU, as part of activities marking International Women’s Day celebration.

Madam Ekpe explained the importance of diverse storytelling and its impact in creating better and inclusive societies.

‘’As students and young people, it is critical to ensure diverse representation in media coverage, including voices from marginalized communities, highlighting the plight of underreported communities create opportunities for people to be heard and so they can also feel part of the democratic process and live in harmony’’.
