His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, has confirmed he will make a special appearance on the runway during the upcoming Ghana Fashion Week, scheduled for July 2025.
The announcement came during the national launch of the Black Star Experience program on May 1 at Black Star Square in Accra. Mahama revealed he would join Ghanaian models on the runway to celebrate the country’s rich fashion heritage and support local designers.
“I’ve always been proud to wear locally made clothing most of my public attire is tailored right here in Ghana,” Mahama stated. “Fashion is a vital part of our culture, and I’m excited to help shine a spotlight on the talented designers and creatives who make Ghanaian fashion exceptional.”
His appearance is part of a broader initiative to revitalize Ghana’s creative industries through “The Black Experience,” a policy framework introduced in July 2024. The program aims to boost tourism and the arts with flagship events such as the Ghana Film Festival, Awards Month, Ghanaian Heritage and History Month, and Fashion and Food Month.
Mahama’s participation in Ghana Fashion Week is expected to attract significant public and media attention, highlighting the vibrancy of Ghana’s fashion industry and reinforcing his commitment to promoting cultural and creative excellence.
