President John Dramani Mahama has donated relief items to the Mamobi General Hospital in Accra as part of Government’s ongoing response to the devastating floods that affected parts of the Greater Accra Region and other coastal communities.
The donation, which is aimed at supporting the hospital’s operations and enhancing its capacity to continue providing critical healthcare services, forms part of broader measures to assist institutions and communities impacted by the disaster.

The June 29 floods caused significant destruction, leading to loss of lives, damage to homes and infrastructure, and the displacement of thousands of residents. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), together with other agencies and humanitarian partners, has been coordinating relief efforts to support affected families.
President Mahama, while presenting the items, expressed concern over the impact of the disaster and assured affected communities of Government’s continued support.
“The floods have brought immense hardship to many families, with lives lost, properties destroyed and communities disrupted. Government stands with all those affected and will continue to provide the necessary support to help them recover,” President Mahama said.
He noted that health facilities such as the Mamobi General Hospital play a vital role during emergencies and must be adequately supported to respond to the needs of affected populations.
“Our hospitals remain critical pillars in times of crisis. Supporting institutions like Mamobi General Hospital is part of our commitment to ensuring that essential services remain available to the people, especially during difficult periods,” he added.
The President commended health workers and emergency responders for their dedication in assisting flood victims despite the challenges posed by the disaster.
Management of the Mamobi General Hospital expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the relief items would help strengthen the hospital’s ability to serve patients and communities affected by the floods.
The donation adds to a series of Government-led interventions aimed at providing immediate relief while developing long-term measures to address recurring flooding challenges, including improved drainage systems, disaster preparedness and climate resilience initiatives.
President Mahama reaffirmed that Government would continue working with relevant stakeholders to protect lives, restore affected communities and build stronger systems to mitigate the impact of future disasters.
